That became another form of freedom.
Daniel requested a private meeting.
She refused.
Then a letter arrived.
Six pages.
Apologies.
Childhood stories.
Pressure.
Love.
Regret.
Evelyn read only the first page.
Then stopped.
She asked herself one question:
Would I return if this letter were perfectly written?
No.
Then the remaining five pages didn't matter.
She filed it away.
Not burned.
Not framed.
Not returned.
Just paper.
The marriage ended eleven months after the dinner.
Evelyn walked out of court.
No cheering.
No revenge dress.
No dramatic photographers.
She bought coffee.
Called her father.

Then went home and slept for four hours.
