Chapter 7 - THE SECOND RECORDINGInvestigators recovered deleted messages from Victoria's devices.

One changed everything.

Three days before Claire's garage accident, Victoria wrote to a private investigator:

Confirm whether Richard's new trust becomes irrevocable upon birth.

Another:

Find out what happens if there is no living grandchild.

Claire stared at the words.

No ambiguity.

Victoria had researched consequences before the first incident.

The prosecution's case strengthened dramatically.

The garage event became more important.

Not necessarily because every detail could be proven beyond dispute.

But because the messages established planning and motive.

Richard read them once.

Then closed the file.

Claire asked:

“Are you angry?”

“Yes.”

“You don't look angry.”

Richard answered:

“Anger isn't always loud.”

Claire remembered him at the bottom of the staircase.

You just destroyed your own life.

Now she understood.

Richard wasn't threatening to use wealth to destroy Victoria.

He knew she had already created the evidence that could do it herself.
