Chapter 5 - WILLIAM'S TRUSTLaura finally read her father's entire trust.

She cried.

William had anticipated family pressure.

Not specifically Diane.

Human nature.

A letter accompanied the documents.

Laura had never seen it because it was intended to be opened if someone challenged management of the grandchildren's inheritance.

Daniel read it aloud.

William explained that the money belonged to the child beneficiary.

Not parents.

Not spouses.

Not grandparents.

No adult was entitled to become wealthy because a child inherited money.

Laura smiled through tears.

“That sounds like Dad.”

There was more.

If any family member attempted to obtain guardianship primarily for financial control, trustees were instructed to oppose expanded distribution authority and seek independent fiduciary oversight.

Diane's plan had defeated itself.

The moment financial motivation could be demonstrated, her chances of influencing the trust became dramatically worse.

Connor's MONEY TALK recording mattered.

Diane had openly discussed the value.

The petition.

The strategy.

Sabrina's debts.

Grace's inheritance.

Daniel closed the document.

“Your father built a very strong wall.”

Laura smiled.

“Diane spent months trying to find a door.”

“And Connor recorded her explaining where she thought it was.”

The trust was moved under strengthened independent oversight.

Laura voluntarily reduced even her own discretionary role.

Daniel was surprised.

“You don't need to.”

“I want Grace's money to be boring.”

“Boring?”

“Managed by professionals. Statements. Rules. No family drama.”

Daniel smiled.

“Boring is underrated.”

For the first time since the birthday, Laura laughed.
