Chapter 4 - SABRINA'S COMPLAINTSabrina filed a complaint over the assault and haircut.
Laura expected it.
She didn't lie.
“Yes, I struck her.”
“Yes, I cut her hair.”
“Why?”
“My daughter was restrained and screaming while Sabrina cut her hair.”
The birthday videos supported that.
Several guests had recorded the confrontation.
One angle clearly showed Sabrina raising scissors toward Grace's forehead immediately before Laura intervened.
Laura's actions after disarming her remained a separate issue.
Daniel warned her:
“Protecting Grace explains taking the scissors. Continuing against Sabrina afterward is harder to justify.”
Laura nodded.
“I know.”
That honesty helped.
Laura accepted responsibility for losing control.
Sabrina did not.
She claimed Grace had requested a haircut.
Video destroyed that claim.
“No! Please stop cutting my hair!”
Clear.
Repeated.
Diane claimed she restrained Grace to prevent the scissors from accidentally hurting her.
Another absurdity.
If safety were the concern, the cutting would have stopped.
Instead:
“Hold still.”
Then investigators asked Sabrina about the dog comment.
She said it was humor.
The investigator asked:
“What was funny?”
Sabrina couldn't answer.
Consequences followed through the relevant legal and family processes.
Laura's retaliation did not disappear merely because Sabrina behaved worse.
Nor did it erase what Sabrina and Diane had done.
For Laura, that distinction became important.
Accountability wasn't a competition.
She could say:
I should not have cut Sabrina's hair.
And simultaneously:
Sabrina had no right to touch Grace.
Both were true.
Diane hated that position because it deprived her of the narrative she wanted.
She needed Laura to deny everything.
Instead Laura admitted her mistake.
