Chapter 8 - The Takedown

He swung the tire iron, shattering my driver’s side window. Glass sprayed across my uniform.
Chloe screamed.
But I had served three tours in combat zones. A spoiled billionaire with a piece of metal was nothing to me.
I unbuckled my seatbelt in a fraction of a second, kicked the heavy door outward with all my leg strength, and sent the door slamming directly into Julian’s chest. He stumbled backward, gasping for air.
I stepped out into the rain. Julian recovered and swung the iron at my head. I ducked, stepped inside his guard, grabbed his wrist, and twisted it violently. A loud snap echoed over the rain. Julian dropped the iron, screaming in agony.

I swept his legs, driving him into the wet asphalt. I planted my knee firmly into his spine and pinned his broken wrist against his back.
"You want to know the difference between us, Julian?" I whispered into his ear as police sirens wailed in the distance. "You fight for money. I fight for my daughter. You never stood a chance."
