Chapter 5 - THE $60,000 TRAPDaniel hadn't magically predicted the future.

That was the clever part.

He already knew Ethan.

Already knew Chloe.

Already knew the debt.

Shortly before dying, Daniel discovered Chloe and Ethan discussing Natalie's finances.

At that point Natalie hadn't met Ethan.

Daniel realized they might approach her later.

He couldn't know how.

So he left instructions.

The $60,000 remained in an account requiring Natalie alone to authorize withdrawals.

No joint control.

No automatic marital access.

Daniel then placed the remainder of what he intended for Natalie elsewhere.

A protected trust.

Natalie hadn't known its value.

Martin finally told her.

$1.8 million.

Natalie sat completely still.

“What?”

Daniel had accumulated more than his family realized through decades of disciplined investing and partial ownership in a logistics company.

Vivian knew he had investments.

She didn't know their structure.

The trust had one primary purpose:

Emma.

Medical care.

Education.

Housing.

Long-term security.

Natalie was secondary beneficiary and trustee under strict safeguards.

Marriage would not give Ethan control.

Divorce wouldn't either.

The sixty thousand?

It really belonged to Natalie.

But compared with the trust, it was tiny.

Daniel had deliberately made that amount obvious while keeping Emma's true protection private.

The bait worked.

Everyone who cared more about the visible money than Natalie revealed themselves.
