Thomas continued:

“What?”

“And he named you as its director.”
Claire stared at him.
“I don't want their money.”
“You don't have to.”
“Then why?”
“Because Thomas didn't choose you for money.”
He looked at her.
“He chose you because he trusted you.”
Claire thought about Lily.
The chain.
The tears.
The words.
