Chapter 12 - LILY’S NIGHTMARESLily stopped sleeping alone.

She hated closed doors.
If I went downstairs, she followed.
If someone knocked, she froze.
Therapy helped.
Slowly.
One night she asked:
“Did Grandma kill Mommy?”
I answered honestly.
“No.”
“Did she help?”
“Yes.”
“Do I have to love her?”
I stopped.
“No.”
“Can I?”
“Yes.”
She thought.
“I don't know.”
“That’s okay.”
Children deserved uncertainty too.
Not adult pressure to forgive.
Teresa wrote letters from jail.
I kept them.
Did not give them to Lily until she wanted them.
One day maybe she would.
May you like
Maybe not.
Her choice.
